As part of the City of Unley's Four Year Delivery Plan, Council committed to assisting businesses to navigate government requirements and access services.
As part of this commitment, Council launched the City of Unley's Your Business portal in June 2022, supporting local businesses to start, sustain and grow their business in Unley.
Your Business provides businesses with information about starting a business, grants, networking and marketing opportunities, industry regulations, investing in Unley and much more.
It also connects them with external services and gives them 24/7 access to Council's digital services, allowing them to apply for permits and approvals at a time that is most convenient to them, making business easy in the City of Unley.
People Centred Design Approach
Your Business was built in collaboration with the business community using the City of Unley's people-centred design approach.
Planning & research
As part of the planning and research phase for the Your Business portal, desktop research was coupled with an audit of the City of Unley's website to identify what type of information and digital services we offered our businesses in comparison to what was offered by other Councils and government bodies nationwide.
Design & build
The research conducted informed the development of a digital survey for business operators, the results of which provided us with an excellent indication of the type of information and services businesses valued most.
Those topics deemed most valuable were workshopped with business operators, and card sorting and digital tree jacking exercises were employed to help design, build and test the information architecture of the Your Business site.
