The Unley Gala returns to King William Road on Saturday 20 January 2024 

The City of Unley will once again host the Unley Gala (formerly Unley Gourmet Gala), arguably Adelaide’s most prestigious outdoor food, wine, and fashion event and longest running associated event held in conjunction with the Santos Tour Down Under.

Don’t miss your opportunity to be part of our 21st anniversary celebrations making this our most spectacular event yet! 

The Unley Gala provides an opportunity for retailers and restaurants to showcase their finest produce, wine and fashion at a lively street party. The event sits comfortably as one of the largest, most dynamic and eagerly anticipated events on the South Australian Santos Tour Down Under calendar and is expected to attract more than 20,000 visitors.

Traffic Information

Council has prepared a detailed traffic management plan to facilitate vehicular movement in and through areas affected by temporary restrictions close to the event zones, including on King William Road itself, which will be closed from 6am Saturday 20 January to 2pm Sunday 21 January.

There will be electronic signage erected at both ends of KWR providing advanced notice.

Please be aware of these changes, which may affect you. The following Parking and Traffic Information map provides further details, including road closures, permit and disability parking, toilets, and public bus services which will be re-routed from 6am on Saturday 20 January until 2pm on Sunday 21 January 2024.

Please ensure your vehicle is not parked on King William Road between Arthur Street and Park/Mitchell Streets on the night of Friday 19 January 2024, or between Park/Mitchell Streets and Jasper Street the night of Saturday 20 January 2024. After 6am on Saturday 20 January and 6am on Sunday 21 January, all vehicles parked on these sections of road will be towed., with recovery cost at the owner’s expense.

Santos Tour Down Under - Schwalbe Stage 6 Race Start

On Sunday morning 21 January, the Stage 6 Race Start festivities commence from 9.20am with the start line located on King William Road near the intersection of Walter Street. The starter’s gun fires at 11.10am as racers ride south along King William Road towards Victoria Avenue, Cross Road, and the Adelaide Hills, finishing at Mount Lofty.

With crowds arriving early for the event, this presents an opportunity to offer breakfast and beverages, along with any specials your business may wish to promote.

The Gala will be held on Saturday, 20 January 2024, from 5.00pm - 11.00pm on King William Road, Unley, South Australia. 

The Unley Gala is a free family-friendly event featuring an array of gourmet food stalls, fashion parades, fun children’s activities and an impressive line-up of musicians and entertainers. The Unley Gala provides opportunities for the City of Unley to:

  • Stimulate the local economy by providing an opportunity for Unley businesses to generate income at the event
  • Raise the profile of the City of Unley to visitors from Greater Adelaide as well as visitors from interstate
  • Enhance the City’s reputation as a great place to shop, live, work and do business

  • Provide an opportunity for residents and visitors to gather and enjoy one of the City’s premier mainstreet precincts
