The Highgate Village Business Precinct is scheduled for asset renewal in the coming months. This streetscape upgrade will involve the replacement of the paving, kerbs and street furniture. It also includes new flower garden beds, more jacaranda trees and improved pedestrian amenity across side streets with narrowed crossing points and paved road entries. The extents of work on Fullarton Road will be;
• West side footpaths from the entry to Fullarton Community Centre carpark to the bus stop south of Invergowie Street;
• East side footpaths from the northern shops (opposite Carlton Street) to the shops to the south opposite Invergowie Street. It will also include the footpath adjacent to the bus stop opposite Cheltenham Street (east side); and
• Thresholds treatments into side streets at Cheltenham, Carlton and Invergowie Street and Ferguson Avenue.
The below concept provides an overview of the proposed improvements including the new street furniture suite and character of the new planting. As the upgrade work progresses on site, please note that some aspects may be subject to refinement to address site constraints and technical requirement during the construction process.
