The City of Unley is calling on local business owners and operators to have their say in a new Business Survey that will help shape the city’s long-term economic direction as part of the Community Vision 2050.

The survey, now open, is being led by independent market research firm Intuito Market Research and marks the first stage of a broader engagement process to ensure the voices of local businesses are heard early and clearly. This is part of a phased engagement approach; businesses are being consulted first, followed by the broader residential community.

Mayor Hewitson said business engagement is essential to the success of Council’s 2050 vision.

“Unley’s business community is an essential part of what makes our city thrive,” the Mayor said. “This survey is a rare opportunity for businesses to directly influence how we plan, invest and support economic growth for the decades ahead.”

The survey will capture baseline data about business sentiment, challenges, and opportunities. Insights will guide future investment, policy and place activation across Unley’s business precincts and beyond.

Council is aiming to collect 403 responses to ensure robust and representative results. All responses are confidential and will be used as baseline data for the Community Vision 2050, which will shape Council’s direction for the next 25 years.

Chair of the Business and Economic Development Advisory Committee, Damian De Luca, urged local business operators to get involved.

“Your voice matters. Whether you’re a sole trader, retailer, café owner, work from home or part of a larger organisation, the feedback you provide now will help us set priorities that are responsive to your needs and ambitions.”

The survey takes 15 minutes to complete and is available online until Friday, 22 August 2025. The data will also support the work of the Business and Economic Development Advisory Committee, Council staff, and the Business Precinct Leadership Group in shaping future strategic initiatives.
